The Challenge
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we were presented with opportunities to convey challenges people are facing in this day and age. UCLA Health wanted a series of digital illustrations and graphics to convey these visually.
The Solution
Commissioned by Cult Collective, I created a series of digital illustrations for UCLA Health, starting with a commemorative Nurses Week poster honoring The International Year of the Nurse. The brief was to highlight the evolution of nursing over time, contrasting historical eras with the modern demands of the pandemic.
Following the success of the poster, we expanded the visual storyline into an interactive carousel tracing the history of nursing from Florence Nightingale to the present day.
Additional editorial illustrations addressed the realities of pandemic life, including "The New Normal" illustration below that was turned into an animation, and a piece illustrating the communication barriers face masks create for the hearing impaired.
We concluded with a custom digital painting to support UCLA’s campaign for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Man & Woman of the Year.
